The community is invited to pack a picnic lunch, sit on the bluff at John Wayne Marina and watch as Sequim Bay Yacht Club(SBYC) members parade their boats in the bay in front of the Irrigation Festival Court onboard a boat, and watch the boats as they try to do maneuvers. At about 3:30, the community is invited to meet in front of the marina's flagpole for the traditional ceremonies: raising of the flag, shooting of a cannon, blessing of the fleet and a declaration that Opening Day (for water activities by all boaters) is officially open! This concludes the public events. |

ShrimpFest is a Memorial Day weekend festival celebrating Hood Canal Spot Shrimp and other local seafood. Craft booths, food booths, belt sander races, exhibits, live music, children's activities and so much more. The tides are usually low enough during this weekend for easy harvest of clams and oysters on the public beaches near the festival, (license required as well as a parking fee). The weather is traditionally good during this holiday weekend. This is great family fun and it's FREE too! Come and taste the wonderful local shrimp. |
