WHALE WATCHING

The Makah Indian Reservation at Neah Bay and the Quileute Indian Village of La Push offer excellent vantage points for spotting Gray Whales on their northward migration from the warm coastal waters of Baja California to the Bering Sea. The best time to view the whales is from late February through May.
The majestic Olympic Mountains, towering old-growth Sitka Spruce and Cedar trees and beautiful Rhododendrons in bloom are just a few of the other sights to be seen in the springtime. Bring a camera and binoculars and delight in the scenic beauty.

ShrimpFest is a Memorial Day weekend festival celebrating Hood Canal Spot Shrimp and other local seafood. Craft booths, food booths, belt sander races, exhibits, live music, children's activities and so much more. The tides are usually low enough during this weekend for easy harvest of clams and oysters on the public beaches near the festival, (license required as well as a parking fee). The weather is traditionally good during this holiday weekend. This is great family fun and it's FREE too! Come and taste the wonderful local shrimp.
