Quilting and Quilting Shows
Hand sewn, machine sewn or tied, quilts are part of Olympic Peninsula
tradition. Quilters proudly share their masterpieces at local quilt
shows.
Local quilt shops provide the needed raw materials to encourage
and inspire the quilt artists.
2008 Western Washington Shop Hop-10th Anniversary
Shop Hop works like this: Pick up a passport at any participating
quilt shop anytime after June 1, 2008. Quilted Strait, Port
Angeles, and Sound Sewing, Sequim, are among the participants.
There are 54 quilting shops participating across Western Washington.
To win prizes, get the passport stamped at each shop visited
during the Hop. When a passport gets stamped, a kit for a quilt
block, including the block pattern created by that individual
shop and three fabrics, will be received. Some shops may have
finishing kits available for purchase. Grand prize this year
is a Bernina 440QE, quilter's edition sewing machine. There
are also gift certificates to win! It's a guilt-fee opportunity
to add to your stash.
For those unable to travel from fabric shop to fabric shop,
there is the FabShop Hop on line. Check out this website for
internet fun.
