Boating and Marinas
The waters surrounding the Olympic Peninsula offer a variety
of boating experiences with marinas tucked into each corner. The
Strait of Juan de Fuca is a challenging and exhilarating sailing
experience. Port Angeles Harbor offers protected waters for small
craft and moorage. There are bays and inlets with calm water for
kayaks and canoes. The Hood Canal is a glacial fjord with many
secluded coves and beaches.
Sequim Bay Yacht Club Opening Day, John Wayne Marina, Sequim Bay
See Sequim Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) members parade their boats in
the bay. Gather under the marina's flagpole at about 3:30 p.m.
to view the traditional Opening Day ceremonies: raising the flag,
shooting the cannon, blessing the fleet, and declaring that Opening
Day for water activities is officially open for all boaters.
